The Aznalcóllar mining complex, with a surface area of almost 950 hectares, is located at the eastern end of the FPI, so it has reserves and probable resources of approximately 80 million tons of polymetallic sulfides (copper, lead and zinc, as well as gold and silver). The two short cuts that make it up, Aznalcóllar and Los Frailes, were partially exploited using surface mining methods between 1975 and 2001, the year in which they were closed.

- An important aspect of the project is water management. The mine will be self-sufficient, thanks to the construction of hydraulic infrastructure. The water used in the operation will be treated in a treatment plant for reuse, eliminating the need to obtain water for industrial use.
